College campus closed April 7

College officials announced that afternoon classes were closed at the Cape May County campus of Atlantic Cape Community College for Monday, April 7 due to a bomb threat.
Students were notified by a text message, and a statement was posted on the college’s Web site stating that 2 p.m. classes were canceled, but 5 p.m. classes would proceed. The Web site referred to police activity in the area.
College spokeswoman Kathy McGowan said the college relieved a bomb threat just before 1 p.m. April 7.
Middle Township police responded to the campus, and as of Monday afternoon were on scene with officers and a bomb sniffing dog, McGowan said.
"The college is taking every precaution and has canceled 2 p.m. classes," McGowan said.
No one at the Middle Township Police Department was immediately available for comment.
The closure only affected the Cape May County campus, not the Mays Landing or Atlantic City campuses.
