Woman charged in beating, robbery
Wildwood police say a 29-year-old Egg Harbor Township woman participated in an assault and robbery on the night of March 20.
Police responded to West Roberts Avenue in Wildwood at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday, March 20, on a report of an assault in progress.
According to police, Saturnino Nunez had been robbed, beaten by several people, and struck with a shovel. Police say he actively fought back until several people came to his aid, and the attackers fled the scene.
Wildwood detectives and officers from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office responded to investigate. A description of the suspects was given to various local law enforcement agencies.
At close to 1 a.m., two people who matched the description were stopped, and one was positively identified by the victim, according to police.
Catherine Allex, 29, of Weeping Willow Circle in Egg Harbor Township faces charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Judge David DeWeese set bail at $20,000 cash, no 10 percent, and she was sent to county jail.
